Recently, Adams Middle School was certified as a Distinguished Kindness School by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. This prestigious recognition places Adams as the second middle school in the state of Connecticut to receive this distinction and one of only 351 schools worldwide to earn this honor.

This achievement is the result of the dedicated efforts of the E.C. Adams Student Council, whose work was supported by Dr. Wesley Simon and James Pappa. Together, they have made it a priority to ensure that Adams is not only a place of academic excellence, but also a community where compassion, respect, and empathy thrive.

As part of this initiative, the student council collected over 400 signatures from students pledging to make "Kindness the Norm" at Adams. Council members also committed themselves to learning about the benefits of kindness and gratitude and actively participated in activities that promoted random acts of kindness throughout the community. These efforts are only the beginning of the council's efforts as we plan to keep promoting kindness at the school.

Here is where we can use some help. We are trying to be consistent in promoting random acts of kindness throughout the building. Some ideas are having the students bring flowers to the secretaries and providing donuts to the staff. We also want to continue to have surprise free ice cream for students and hold surprise events that create excitement among our student body. Our student members are eager to create these small acts of kindness as they have learned that providing a random act of kindness actually provides more to the giver than to the receiver.

This initiative is extremely important as it is a chance to teach our students the value of kindness and gratitude by providing opportunities within our community. Your donation will help the students purchase gift cards to Dunkin, Big Y, and other businesses, as well as many other actions to commit Random Acts of Kindness.

Adams PTO is kicking off this campaign with a donation, and we hope you will join us in this timely and important campaign.
